Ballyhoura area

Heard a lot about this Ballyhoura area, a mountainous place with huge valleys, lots of hiking trails and a popular mushroom foraging location.

It is 1.5 hours away in the middle of nowhere (no big town and site), hence took us 3 years before venturing down that direction.

A very well organised hiking area, routes are well marked, well laid out with boards on wet muddy area, graded by difficulties, a lot up the mountains, some to the lakes midway and also some flat one along rivers.

Chosen one along River Keale, 3.5 hours return, easy path criss crossing the river on many big and small bridges, passing through fields, meadows and some rare remaining 1 % ancient forest in Ireland. Very much enjoyed the lush environment, we will come back.
