I sat on the stone next to the house and the water for a long time, so calming and inspiring. Make me wish to introduce a water feature in my own garden too.

Satisfying onsen and crab experience, Awara, Fukui, Japan

Fukui

Spent a few days in Fukui to have a taste of Echizen 越前 crab (a type of snow crab) that is in season.

After eating 3 crabs, in a restaurant in Fukui town, in Mikuni town right next to the sea, and in Awara onsen town, the best deal and overall experience goes to Awara.

The package consists of a night in the onsen hotel Grandia 芳原, I have chosen a Japanese style room with private onsen, a set dinner with Echizen crab and breakfast.

A private onsen is a wonderful treat, very peaceful atmosphere. Both dinner and breakfast are beautifully presented and very tasty.

The only drawback is that Awara town has not much to offer, the only sight is this forest of huge bamboo.
