Black radish rice flour steam cakeblack radish
This is the radish available now, with a charcoal black skin and pure white center. The texture is more firm and has more flavor than Daikon, it is tasty to be roasted, but decided to use it to make this traditional steam cake, a simple vegetarian version.
2 cups grated black radish
0.5 cup rice flour
1.5 cups water
ginger, garlic, sesame, seaweed
salt and pepper
1. Cook chopped garlic and ginger until fragrant, add peeled and grated radish, season with salt and white pepper, cook for a few minutes to soften.
2. While hot, pour into rice flour and water mixture, stir to mix, add sesame and seaweed flakes.
3. Pour into shallow bowls and steam for 20-30 minutes, serve as such, or cut up and sear both sides golden.
