In the small Rovinj
fish market, a lady sells fish caught by her husband in the early morning. I like to
go to her table as the fish are always fresh. For those she is unable to sell in the market, she will
sell to restaurants at a lower price.

Sometimes there are
only small size fish, this silver bream is very good when baked, waxy juicy
flesh.

This red bream is not
as good when baked, very dry meat. She said it eats shrimps and better in soup,
so together with this small triglia, also eat shrimps, I made a simple fish
soup.

Boil ginger, spring
onion and carrot for 15 minutes, add fish, simmer gently for 30 minutes, season
with salt and pepper.
She is right, soup is
indeed tasty, both fish also able to stay whole without breaking up, but the meat is dry and hard.
