Berrues in early May |
The earliest fruits I can gather
in my garden are Siberian honeysuckle berries (or Honey berry) and nearly ripe
strawberries. This Honey berry is also called May berry as it is the earliest
berry to ripen in the year. Beautifully blue like blueberry, with dark red
flesh, but quite sour, hard to eat many on its own.
So the trick is to cut the unripe strawberries
into halves, add a teaspoon of brown sugar or honey and mix with both berries
for half an hour before serving.
