Tried hard to think how to cook the lobster whole, with the head and claws well done and the tail still medium rare?! I found a cooked tail a bit tough.
Thought of using the method as in cooking scampi recently, very happy with the result.
Basically blanch lobster in boiling water to kill and to have the body curl up, 2 minutes.

blanched lobster head down 4 minutes 
 
Place lobster on BBQ med high heat, head down tail up for 4 minutes, turn over for another 2 minutes. This way the tail is just warmed but hot got the full heat.
