Super good sweet potato harvest

red amaranth and sweet potato cuttings in end July

After digging out all the potatoes in mid July, instead of leaving the ground bare and grows weeds, I decided to transplant some cuttings from the existing 3 colours of sweet potato plants, and also sown a handful of amaranth seed () just in case the cuttings didn't work, for some green leaves to eat or at least as ground cover.

Both plants grew well and I had enjoyed many meals of stir-fried amaranth and sweet potato leaves.
It is time to plant garlic in that strip of land, to my amazement, every cuttings has a good bunch of sweet potatoes underneath! Just barely 3 months and there is such a good harvest.

Other than this is a super good growing year, I suspect the  competition from amaranth helped to stimulate sweet potato plants to store food (tubers) fast.
