Black sesame spread |
I know it is healthy to eat black sesame,
but cannot find an easy cooking method to enjoy it regularly. Black sesame
spread is popular now but the commercial ones are so sweet for my taste, all
the goodness is cancelled out by the amount of sugar being used.
So making my own is the way to go. I
thought of making it like walnut spread, simply blending walnut (and other
nuts) with olive oil and salt, a mild savory spread.

I blend black sesame (250gm) with sesame
oil together with a pinch of salt, need to add quite a bit of sesame oil to
form a coarse paste. Unfortunately this recipe does not work as black sesame
has a mild bitter taste. So I have to add a tablespoon of honey to balance the flavor,
a mildly sweet spread.
