Reached the first hot
spring area, there are small pools of bubbling hot water dotted in the boggy
field. The water from hot springs joins the river and flows to the sea, with a
lot of birds there enjoying the warmer water. The land around the geothermal
water is greener with the extra warmth.

Wrapped a trout caught
at the lake last night, and a piece of smoked salmon in aluminium foil,
together with 2 eggs, to be cooked inside the hot spring. Guessed the
temperature is around 60˚C, the trout cooked in 10 minutes, salmon semi-cooked
in the same time, eggs took longer at 20 minutes to become soft centred. What a
memorable out door cooking and eating experience.
