The tour includes exploring where we could get fresh local seafood. As it is mackerel season, the fisherman went fishing at Kell harbour and brought back mackerel for the camper table.
At The Point, Cahersiveen, the Quilin seafood processing plant welcomes us to buy directly. They have a lot of farmed salmon (!) some crabs and CRAYFISH!

1.65kg crayfish
Bought a 1.6 kg beauty, at wholesale price, steam for 20 minutes, cut and take the tail out, steam the head for another 10 minutes.
Crayfish shell is thin and full of tender meat, in the tail, in the head, and in every leg. Much more to eat and sweeter meat than lobster.

Also intercepted a shrimp fisherman loading and unloading shrimp pots in Valentia island. Have a chat and bought 1.5 kg of live shrimps. According to him, locals do not eat shrimp, there is a lady driving along the coast to collect shrimps from fishermen and sell to the French.
Quick blanch for 15 seconds, sweet meaty shrimps.
