Turn round to the peninsula below, port town Dournenez with a lot of small pleasure boats parked in the harbour. The area flourished in the 19 C due to the building of the first sardine canning factory in France. Catching sardines became a big business bringing a fortune to many people. Unfortunately what followed is not hard to guess, the collapse of the sardine stock!
The covered market at Douarnenez does not have a lot of choice, go to La poissonnerie du port at the port for better selection.

conclusion is that the price of clam link to thickness/ weight of shell
(thicker cheaper/kg) more than flavour, which is personal.
