Tour of southern Spain 4/7 Granada

Not on main tourist route is El Banos, Hammam built in the 11C, only a small portion remained. The style is simple but really enticing.

On the way there, we walked along Carrera del Darro, next to the river. It has a relaxing atmosphere, very green and some different style old buildings, a good find.

At the end it is our ticket time to visit Alhambra, 3 main areas, garden, Carlos V palace and Nastrid palace.

The garden (Gentrilife) is huge, similar plot size as Alhambra. Half is veg garden with organised patches growing large varieties of veg and fruits. The other half where we can walk around is full of all sorts of flowers. It is now the season of wisteria, iris, peony and tulip, plus all types of bedding plants, really well managed.

Carlos V palace is square outside but sheltering a circular two floors building supported by pillars inside, most impressive.

Lastly is the most famous Nastrid Palace, a well renovated palace to see the height of Moorish architecture and decorative style. There are so much detail, so fine and delicate, overwhelmingly one of its kind. Rooms of beautiful proportions, full of lace like fine decoration, many domes and arches, it is hard to describe the beauty of the place, just take lots of photos.

The late visit in the morning before leaving Granada is Museo Casa de los Tiros. An old grand mansion showing the style of that era, with lots of furnishings and paintings, small but worth a visit.

Most memorable place to eat is at Mercado San Augustin, near the Cathedral. A real market with many stalls and you can buy seafood and have the restaurant cooks for you. The best way to taste especially shellfish.
