On the way north to Cherbourg, stayed a
night at Rennes. Chosen to have dinner at Le Galopin, following Michelin guide
advise and also it is right next to the hotel, handy when it is cold and wet
outside.

What a surprise to see abalone on the menu,
the first time to have it in a French restaurant. It is simply deep fried for a
short time, the edge is a bit tough but the centre tender, the chef knows what
he is doing.
