In the Irish cold weather, it will be hard for sweet potato to have shoots early. Learn this method of submerging half of the sweet potato in water and keep at room temperature to make it form shoots.
Took me two months for it to grow to this stage. They are purple sweet potatoes, the heart shape green leaves with purple veins is so pretty that I decided to keep one at home as decoration.
The long shoots with roots are removed to be planted in the green house bed directly, then the whole sweet potato is buried in soil with leaves sticking out. Hope they survives the Irish cool nights.
