The veg garden in summer

With veg in both green house and outside beds growing well, there is a good supply of a large variety of vegetables to eat, enough to make soup and veg dish in every meal.

It is the most productive year in early summer in my 20 years of growing vegetables.

Potato grown inside greenhouse is dug, and the space refreshed and planted with red Yin Choi and khol rabi.

Potato red duke of york, a floury potato

Planted the third sowing of kailan in the outside bed, when the second lot is nearly finished, the cool weather is good for this veg.

Harvested regularly sprouting broccoli, and Romanesco, which I will not grow again as the plant is huge but the part to eat is small.

Pull out Daikon and beetroot one every few days, sweet and crunchy, replanted with parsnip in the space.

Runner bean, climbing bean, French bean and sugar snap is throwing out pods, a handful every few days. French bean is doing better outside than in green house.

Continue to pick watercress, Tongho and spinach leaves, no sign of bolting yet.

Salad Cos lettuce grows thick and so sweet, lovely to make a Caesar type salad, mixed with Tongho, and basil leaves.
