Another UNESCO old town, on the southern coast with a French influence in town planning, mainly wider streets.
A bit disappointed as the town does not have a good concentration of old buildings and lacking in atmosphere.
I manage to book to stay in a 120 years old building built in the grand style of the era, now running as BnB.
A beautiful experience to be in a flat with 6m ceiling height, decorative pillars in the living room, wide and deep balcony with a few rocking chairs to enjoy the view and cool breeze.
The main plaza, Jose Marti, is surrounded by good style 100+ years old buildings. The theatre building is worth a visit to see the semicircular seating in wood panels with lots of carvings.
Another building open to visit is good to see the layout of old Manor House, with an open courtyard in the middle, for light and privacy. It has a cupola at the top to be reached by circular staircase, a lot in this country, for a panorama view of Cienfuego, to relax with a lemonade or Mojito.
Stroll along paseo de Prado and on to Malecon is another way to see old buildings. Unfortunately there is a bad smell at low tide and some rubbish around.
At the end of Malecon is Punta Gorda, a thin strip of land out into the sea, there are two restaurants near the end that have great setting and decent food, pretty good by Cuban standard.
Arranged taxi transfer for half day visit to Laguna Guanaroca and then Castillion de Jaguar.
The Laguna is a reserve for the unique bright orange pink flamingos, only open for visits in the morning. Tourists are arranged two on each rowing boat to be moved to different areas for bird watching and where flamingos gather.
A fantastic sight, they glide on shallow water like a troop of dancers, far prettier then swans. Flamingos fly away when the boat get a bit closer, another wonderful sight.
The castle Jaguar was built by Spanish around 200 years ago, to guard the sea entrance to Cienfuegos.
Simple in design, but well located with a distance view. There are a lot of canons and cannonballs and other antiques on display.
古巴遊之五Cienfuegos 古老風情
來到Cienfuegos，住進有百二年歷史的老房子，樓底六米高，由多條雕花圓柱撐起，感覺豪華，在熱帶地方，樓底高較為清涼。
睡房四米乘三米，另加浴室，躺在床上看那近六米遠有水晶燈的屋頂，長闊高比例奇異，似井底蛙觀天。
深闊大露台，放置數張搖椅，腦海中即時浮現亦舒書中的美麗女郎，優雅聰慧，通通住在有大露台的老房子中，多年看書潛移默化，心中喜悅無以名狀。
搖椅，幾乎每所民宿都有，似是古巴人的至愛，行街時亦常在民居見到，屋內屋外，都放數張，坐在椅上休息、閒談、乘涼。
鐵做的圓形樓梯，亦見常見的建設，紋理精緻，前人巧手，作品華麗，置下可長久使用，實用又悅目。
Cienfuegos 的少量景點中，以去Laguna Guanaroca 紅樹林看flamingo 最吸引，古巴的火烈鳥粉紅帶橙色，特別艷麗。
安排亦好，只在早上參觀，不用打擾鳥兒太久，二人一組，由專人划船沿湖觀鳥，主要去火烈鳥聚集的淺水地區。她們滑行姿態緩慢優雅，似曼妙舞姿，起飛的形態亦美，難忘的的色彩和影像。
