Very pleasant
old town area, well preserved renaissance style buildings, most with
balconies, lots of tall trees, and lots of plazas.
Most
tourists are day trippers from cruise ships and beach resorts, hence not
too many tourists in the morning and evening, wonderful to wander
around to feel the charm of yesteryears.
Still feels like a locals lived in town, with many quality shops, big wet markets and good eating options.
We have decided to base in Palma the whole week, to enjoy bustling city living, for a change.
Must
visit is the cathedral, with impressive triple floors high vaulted
ceiling, and the terrace that is accessed via 140 steps in a narrow
circular staircase. Wonderful view of buttresses, Palma city, huge
marina and sandy beach.
