Ring of Kerry

Too gloomy at home, need some sunshine and blue sea, take our chances with a camper trip to the west coast, Ring of Kerry area.

 

Stay the night at Kells Bay, there is a fisherman selling lobster near by, at Kells Lobster and crab cottage. So surf and turf for dinner, lobster tasted so much better in rendered beef fat. 

 

 

 

Good place to catch mackerel at dust, on the rocky headland nearby. Mackerel for breakfast lunch and dinner. Filleted and salted, mackerel keeps well in a sealed box.
 

 

 

 

Next day go to Killarney, park at Muckross House, and cycle in the loop around the smaller lake. Have a break at the coffee shop next to harbour. Big mistake, no wind and lots of biting midges!

 

Indeed hit a sunny day, driving around Ring of Kerry is a bliss, the light around Cahersiveen/Valentia Island is mesmerising.
