We stay in holiday houses in the whole trip outside Perth, so that we can cook dinner, as eating out may not be an option in the rural area.
Staying near Bunbury at Dalyellup, our first experience of immense sandy beach in the south west corner of Australia.
Bunbury, a resort town at the coast where 3 rivers flow out to the sea. The panoramic view up a circular staircase at Marlston Hill Lookout is mesmerising, 360 degree view of the city, with water on 3 sides.
The Bunbury Farmers market (open everyday) is a big shop and a great place to stock up for good quality local produce, meat, veg, fruits all from nearby farms.
Followed a loop walk in Tuart Ludlow forest near Wonnerup, the Possom/kangaroo trail that end in Malbup bird hide. There are many over 300 years old tall Tuart trees, and the slightly smaller Peppermint tree has a refreshing fragrance from the leaves. Spotted a few Kangaroos resting and bouncing around, very calm environment.
Then
down to Busselton and had lunch in The Origin Market. A large hall with
a number of stalls selling fresh veg and fruit, cooked food and hand
made items. We are most interested in the honey tasting area. Most of
the honey are from trees and have such unique flavours, and prices very
reasonable, compared to Hong Kong and Ireland!
Then walk the famous 1.8km Busselton jetty, the longest in the world and into beautiful blue sea in different tones. It is designed so that there are stairways to get down to swim, and platforms for fishing. Fantastic views, just a pity it is over 30 degrees, far to hot for leisurely walks.
