Cleared the garden of summer crops,
reworked the soil adding loads of organic manure from our cow farmer. Then sowed
broad bean, garlic and daikon last week, for harvest next spring summer.

Very worried that when the seedling pops up, the
birds will feast on them, so pruned Elaeagnus and Mexican orange shrubs to
get sticks to put all around the beds. Hopefully birds could not notice the juicy
tender seedlings. What a good motivation to do pruning.
