There are a number of small islands in Lake Derg, the most famous is Holly Island, because there are ruins of churches, tower, graveyards to visit. Just a short 10 minutes boat trip from Mountshannon, which is a beautiful little lakeside town, the island is very peaceful, easy to wander around.
