Germinated and planted Brussel sprouts in April, earlier than last year, the plants grew fast and started to have good size sprouts in late August. Earlier than last year, at a time when there is a lot of other veg available to harvest. Impossible to eat them in time, some of the sprouts grew big and became small cabbages.
By late September, there is less to harvest, so these Brussel 'cabbages' are harvested. Wow, they have a good thicker texture and a sweetness not present in the sprouts, and no foul odour if overcooked.
So I wonder, may be in the future, I will let Brussel sprouts to grow into mini cabbages, much better yield and most important is much better taste.
