Spend the day wandering around the old quarter and the French quarter, separated by a lake. Very impressed with having a lot of trees, many old ones, along the streets.
Building style varies a lot, a huge mix of crumbling old ones, yesteryear’s grand style and modern design, all within the same area.
Lots of places to eat, from basic street food to fancy restaurants offer, also within the same area.
Also a shopping paradise for all sorts of things, from clothing to sports gear to household items to spices and nuts etc, at super competitive prices.
It has all the ingredients to being a great place to relax for a few days, but is totally destroyed by the busy traffic. You can’t even walk comfortably on the pavement as it is being used to park motorcycles, display goods or tables for eating. So you have to walk with the traffic, the most unpleasant experience.
Roof top bars in the old quarter is the best place for a break from the hazzle & buzzle of a busy noisy city.
Within walking distance north of the old quarter is a bigger lake, that area has wider roads, less traffic and relaxing environment, much better area to stay and inside the old quarter.
