North Vietnam tour 5/6 Ninh Binh area

The next full day excursion started with 570 steps to the Moa Cave pagoda. The setting is beautiful with big stone steps rise steeply up the hill. It is exhausting to reach the top but the view is rewarding.

Then went to Bich Dong ancient temples, also built into the hill and have to walk up a shorter flight of stone steps. Graceful small temples that blend well with the surrounding.

In the afternoon, we join the Tam Coc boat tour, thinking that the scenery will be good. Unfortunately it is more commercial with road access and tearooms along part of the course. No comparison with yesterday’s Trang An tour. Luckily our driver guess that we will be bored and intercepted the boat on the return trip.

He drive us to Bird Valley, a bird sanctuary that also have a long walk in a cave, vegetable, fruit and flower gardens. The highlight was the boat trip to see where storks and herons nest. This nicely finished our sightseeing of Ninh Binh.
