Finally we reached Perth, the last stop of our south west corner tour. We stay near St George terrace, very easy to cover the main central area from Elizabeth Quay to Northbridge.
Perth is inland from the coast, with Swan river flowing through the middle, the river swells up as lakes at both ends of the centre.
The feeling of
surrounded by water is good, buildings are modern but not too tall, with
good spacing in between, many trees, green areas, parks, and many
walkways outdoor spaces with covers to shade from the fierce sun. Being
dry and always a cool breeze, walking around in the shade is still
pleasant during summer.
It is easy to see that the local
government has done excellent city planning. A lot of walking and
cycling lanes, ferries, car free bridges over the river linking
different parts of Perth, excellent city.
It is really enjoyable to have a drink and a bite at the roof top bar of Doubletree, near Elizabeth Quay, for a fantastic view of Perth.
