Georgia tour - Gergeti Trinity Church 4/7

Got up at 7am and immediately look out of the window, lucky to have clear sky and can see glacier covered Kazbegi mountain, over 5000 meter.

 

The church complex in front is Gergeti Trinity church, the destination of today’s hike. It is at 2120m and we need to hike 400m up from the village. The path is good but going up quite rapidly. We reached that height in an hour, through a birch forest, and another half hour to the church.

The range of mountains with rugged peaks is like a curtain around us.

Trinity church is in the same design like other orthodox churches, built in the 14 century, in a strategic position next to the Russian border.

During lunch in a local family, we saw and practiced how local dumpling kinkali is made. The folding of pleats is exactly the same as making Sau Loong Bao, just bigger.

Next to drive through Dariali gorge, more mountain scenery and near the border crossing to Russia.

Went to a felt workshop to see traditional craft followed by tea and jam tasting. Really impressed with the whole light sugar syrup pickled tangerine and baby walnut, so cute and tasty.

Final visit is to Sno village, to see the austere defence village tower.

格魯吉亞五之 賞山遊山

晨早起來，短暫時間雲散霧清，終於看到五千多米高，有冰川覆蓋的格魯吉亞第一高山Kazbegi，也真的壯觀。

今早行上Kazbegi 山前面，位於二千幾米高小山上的Trinity church, 酒店位於千多米高，需要上行四百多米，略斜，但不難行，一個小時上到山頂，被羣山環繞，觀山好地方，可惜雲多，Kazbegi 山頂不再露臉。

教堂建於十四世紀，傳統東正教設計，清簡樸素，不以華麗堂皇懾人。

往最北方走，兩旁是連棉綿高山，直至Dariali 峽谷，也是三條通住俄羅斯道路之一，也是唯一通行的，其餘兩條，因政治原因關閉，令這段路異常煩忙。
