Went to see the coast facing Arctic Ocean, at Eggum and Unstad. Both described as fine white sandy beach with high cliffs back drop.
Eggum is a bit of a disappointment as the sandy beach is gone leaving just a rocky shore. It is also famous for having a sculpture on the beach, that turned out to be fine but much smaller than expected.
The drive to Unstad is more interesting as you have to get there through a long tunnel, to come out to see a steep straight cliff next to dead flat shore.
Before getting down to Unstad, follow the sign to the Organic farm cafe, serving their goat cheeses. Also able to buy milk goat meat, and goat salami. Delightful farm shop and a good chat to the owner/cheese maker.
On the way back, turn down the next small road to Maervoll, a fjord right next to Unstad, for a fantastic view of the area.
Moving to stay in Ballstad for the next few days. A village with a few habours, for serious fishing boats and pleasure boats. Stay in one of those sea front cabin, this town has a couple of fancy restaurants.
