Went to a famous site, Nusfjord fishing village, now turned into an open museum by the descendants.
Originally existed as a catching, drying of cod and cod liver oil production place like most other fishing villages in Lofoten. With the decline in cod harvest the village is deserted. It is a good idea to maintain the look and feel of the place, by turning into a tourist attraction.
There are cod oil factory, bake house, wood work shop to visit, fishermen’s cottage for rent, general store turned into cafe and a boat house converted to a place to watch video of how the place used to run as in the old days, the big cod killing business.
Started to rain as we went for the hike along the coast to Utakleiv, a flat walk to have a coastal view. The water is pristine, the sand is fine and white. The wind turned strong and gusty making it unpleasant to finish the walk, it was a big relief to see a bus stop and the tourists waiting there told us the bus is coming.
