Near Takamatsu, Kotochira shrine 金刀比羅宮 is one of the famous shrine on the 88 shrines route in this island, there are pilgrims hiking to all of them.
Like most shrines, it is up in the mountain, this group is particularly high, takes around 800 steps to reach the biggest building, and another 600 to reach the top one at around 400m.
Sounds very intimidating, but it is actually spread out over a long distance, with a lot of flat sections in between walking up steps.
The shrines are all in wood, very solidly built with a lot of intricate carvings. There are a nuber of giant Camphor trees aournd the shrines.
