There are 2 routes from Stryn to Grotli, one via a green glacial valley and the other via a mountainous rocky terrain, both are exceptionally atmospheric.
Carry on towards hill town Lom. Went pass Ovestebrafoss and Pollfoss waterways, very different from the fjord side, here the rivers are wider and water flows more vigorously.
Eventually reached Lom, one of the few towns we have been that has a character, preserving its hill station history.
A beautifully preserved wooden church fron the 11C stands proudly at the entrance.
Visited the open air museum displaying a number of traditional wooden houses from the 15c onwards. Very good craftsmanship.
Stayed the night outside Lom next to a river on route 55.
Dinner is seared mackerel with local veg, wild bilberry sourdough cake.
