A 3 hours car ride brought us inland to Sigiriya, stayaing at Sigiriya King's Resort. It is famous for special rock formations, a lake and the famous Sigiriya Rock Fortress, also a popular base to visit the Cultural Triangle : Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa and Dambulla.
It is drizzling and not good to go up the rock, so go for guided paddle boat ride in the lake, famous for bird life.
Very serene lake with good view of the 2 rocks, plus king lily and a lot of bird noises. Unfortunately being rainy season, a downpour means birds go hiding. Able to spot a few White belly fish eagle, kingfisher, hornbills and wild peacocks.
The food here is fine and the chef here is very good at presentation, always eye-catching:
